ESRB Rating Symbols
The ESRB ratings have two aspects, namely the symbols and content descriptors. The rating symbols suggest what age group is fit to play the video game. The most common ESRB rating symbols are EC, E, E 10+, T, M, RP, and AO. EC is early childhood that indicates that the game is suitable for kids 3 years old and above. E means everyone and indicates that the game is good for kids ages 6 and older because it contains minimal cartoon, fantasy, mild violence, or infrequent use of mild language. E 10+ refers to everyone 10 years old and above, and suggests that the title contains more cartoon, fantasy, mild violence, mild language, or minimal suggestive themes.

T is teen that advises a game is fit for gamers 13 years and older since it may have violence, suggestive themes, crude humour, minimal blood, or infrequent use of strong language. M stands for mature, and indicates that the game is suitable for gamers 17 years and older because it may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, or strong language. RP means rating pending and titles with this rating await ESRB’s final rating. It usually appears only in advertising a game prior to its release. AO refers to adults only, and warns that the game is fit for 18 years and older for prolonged scenes of intense violence, graphic sexual content, or nudity.
