Simulation Games

Simulation video games come in three general sub-genres, namely life simulation, construction & management simulation, and vehicle simulation games. Life simulation is also called artificial life game, which requires players to live as or control one or more artificial beings. The game normally revolves around artificial characters (humans and/or animals), their relationships with one another, and how they co-exist in a simulated ecosystem or community.

Two of the best examples of this sub-genre are the “The Sims” and “Arctic Tale.” With construction games, players build, expand, and manage fictional communities or projects using limited resources. On the other hand, vehicle simulation games provide players with opportunities to operate seemingly realistic vehicles. This genre encompasses flight simulation, racing, train, and vehicular combat. As much as possible, game developers use logic and law of physics in designing vehicle simulation games to make them more realistic. “Orbiter” and “Need for Speed” are two classic examples of a vehicle simulation game.
