Gamers who love to display careful and skilful thinking and planning to achieve victory play strategy video games. They engage in a game that gives them god-like view of the game-world allowing indirect control of units and elements. Strategy video games were based on board games. 4X is a sub-category of this genre that refers to four goals, namely eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate.
Strategy war game
A 4X strategy game may either be a turn-based strategy (TBS) or a real-time strategy (RTS). With TBS, players may perform some time of analysis before indulging in action. Meanwhile, with RTS, players engage in continuous action and must make decisions within a constantly changing backdrop.
War and tower defence games are considered a strategy video game because they focus on strategic or tactical warfare on a map.
